Job Description
Saint Paul College seeks energetic and dedicated individuals to apply for a full-time (1.0) Biology Instructor position. The instructor is responsible to:
 
  • Provide classroom instruction, evaluate and advise Biology students;
  • Be an integral part of the program review and assessment process. This includes (but not limited to): to develop and/or revise program learning outcomes and curriculum to support the outcomes; develop curriculum maps for both College and Program Learning Outcomes and assessment plans that measure student learning; collect assessment of student learning data and assessment of student learning data and other data provided for Program Review
  • Participate in department meetings, program advisory committee meetings, and college-wide events;
  • Maintain technical knowledge in the field through active participation in professional development organizations and events;
  • Promote and recruit programs within and outside of the College;
  • Promote diversity and cultural competency;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Academic Dean or Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.
 
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree with a major in Biology or
  • Master’s degree in any discipline/field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in Biology.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of community college teaching experience;
  • Previous teaching experience in an urban two-year college;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to work both independently and with a variety of people as a team member;
  • Knowledge of multi-cultural, gender- and disability-fair curriculum development;
  • Ability to work with a diverse student body with a broad range of interests and abilities;
  • Experience with course construction, curriculum development and classroom management;
  • Experience with web-enhanced and online course teaching with the D2L Platform.
