Position Summary: The Student–Technology Services Aide is responsible for providing exceptional customer services as an assistant to the Technology Services Department.   Contributes to the technological support for college faculty, staff, students and community members.  Assists with maintaining, installing, and operating computer, audio/video, instructional, and event support equipment.   Performs administrative and clerical duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Duties and Responsibilities: Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position:


Answers phones, greets and interacts with customers in a courteous manner; provides exceptional customer service; transfers phone calls to appropriate departments or individuals as needed 

 

Operates computers, audio/video equipment, printers, and other technology-related equipment to complete assigned duties while assisting the Technology Services personnel

 

Uses the Internet, educational, word processing, desktop publishing, and spreadsheet software and applications to complete assigned duties

 

Monitors all lab activities and performs basic lab maintenance duties such as changing printer toner, installing software and updates, and assisting students with PC problems; performs routine computer lab inventory; maintains the physical appearance and ease of use of the facility; sanitizes and cleans lab and office areas

 

Assist technology services personnel with maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, network, operating systems, audio/video equipment, network cabling, and other technology equipment and resources  

 

Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Education and Experience; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Enrollment at Cochise College with a minimum of 6 credits per semester and 3 credits in the summer

Possess and maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or higher

Students attending Cochise College on an F-1 Visa require full-time enrollment with a minimum of 12 credits per semester and six credits in the summer


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures

Knowledge of current technologies, operating systems, computer/audio-visual hardware, and software

Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques, procedures, and methods related to technology equipment maintenance

Knowledge of word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications that may include, but are not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, and Google Apps

Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner

Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment

Ability to safely and effectively use industry hand tools

Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information

Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate action to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes

Ability to promote a positive atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation both within the college and the community

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

 

Work Environment: Work is primarily performed under general supervision.   Incumbent generally performs work in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls.  


Physical Requirements: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.

 

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body; occasionally involves sedentary work, walking, and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle

 

Mental Application:  Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem-solving skills are important
