Starting salary: $91,379 – $107,505

Job Summary
Responsible for the classification and compensation programs for the College ensuring that programs are consistently administered in compliance with internal policies and government regulations. Serve as subject matter expert for consulting and advising on compensation related issues, including wage and hour (FLSA) issues, salary placement, salary structure development, and salary equity studies.
Essential Functions
Develop, lead and manage comprehensive classification and compensation strategies to support the college’s business objectives and recruitment goals. Perform market analyses and make recommendations to ensure employees are being paid appropriately, fairly, and competitively within the industry and region. Functions as the main point of contact for union groups regarding salary. Functions as an integral member of DMACC’s Labor Management Team.
Conduct job evaluations and job reclassifications. In coordination with Director of Talent Acquisition, review and maintain position descriptions.
Work with the administrative, faculty and support bargaining teams. Calculate costs, review data and prepare exhibits for negotiations. Coordinate DMACC’s annual salary increase process. Maintain and update the DMACC salary schedules for all employees. Prepare Board approvals for salary increases each year. Prepare and send wage notices, employment agreements and contracts. Process RIFs for the College as needed and stay up to date on related Iowa Code.
Determine salary placement of new hires within the College’s compensation system. Review policies and procedures regarding salary placement for continuous improvement and equity. Receives complaints and concerns regarding salary placement. Conducts fact-finding and makes a recommendation for resolution. Provide guidance to administrators and supervisors regarding FLSA related issues. Ensure correct FLSA exemption status, monitor changes, determine impact of changes, and implement changes as needed. Provide consultation on part-time temporary pay rates.
Develop and deliver training for employees, supervisors, and leadership on compensation practices, policies, and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in human resources, management, labor relations or related area.
Seven years of recent related experience in human resources classification and compensation including FLSA, annual compensation calculations, and salary structure development.
Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations.
Experience in a unionized environment.
Ability to calculate costs for bargaining and for items related to salary increases.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to plan, organize and manage time.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of current software applications including Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
Seven years of recent related experience in human resources classification and compensation including FLSA, annual compensation calculations, and salary structure development.
Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations.
Experience in a unionized environment.
Ability to calculate costs for bargaining and for items related to salary increases.
