Montgomery College has an immediate need for a part-time Digital Learning Specialist in the Takoma Park campus, Charlene R. Nunley Student Services Center.  The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-1:00 pm. This is a bargaining, nonexempt, grade 23 position. Under supervision and/or direction, incumbents in this job class are responsible for providing workstation and software user support to students, faculty, and staff, as well as provide operational and technical support, conduct workshops, and foster collaboration and partnerships throughout the College community.

Contacts and interaction may vary and include faculty, staff managers, directors, students, vendors, contractors, and consultants, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across different groups.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide operational support to students and faculty in the Digital Learning Center.
  • Identify and resolve problems/issues to ensure systems are optimized and running smoothly.
  • Maintain software library with software and license information.
  • Provide prompt, courteous and accurate assistance to students and fellow employees.
  • Conduct workshops to enhance digital literacy and proficiency.
  • Develop and deliver training materials to support the use of digital learning resources.
  • Develop and update documentation and training materials.
  • Instruct students and faculty on proper equipment/software operation.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance collaboration with internal departments and the broader college community.
  • Engage with college-wide departments to assist with events and serve as a liaison to promote the Digital Learning Center.
  • Collaborate with college-wide learning centers on initiatives.
  • Evaluate student and faculty instructional and learning needs to develop learning goals for students.
  • Ensure optimal performance and connectivity of systems within the digital learning center.
  • Provide consultation in planning, purchasing, installation and support of hardware/software.
  • Provide input on specifications for computer hardware/software, implementation strategies, and lab technical requirements based on Office of Information Technology (OIT) standards.
  • Open/close classrooms/labs according to schedules; startup/shutdown lab hardware, software, and special applications.
  • Perform hardware, software, and presentation systems evaluation and implementation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with other employees and the public.
  • Ability to learn information from College and department communications and technical sources.
  • Ability to operate various items of office related equipment, such as, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium to heavy objects weighing up to 50lbs, as well as squat, walk, climb (stairs and ladders), bend, crouch, stoop, kneel, stand, grasp, reach, pull and repetitive motions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a computer-related discipline.
  • Two years of experience with computer/printer hardware troubleshooting, software installation/configuration/troubleshooting, project planning and management.
  • The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

Hiring Range $25.18 – $32.73 per hour. Initial salary placement is based on candidate experience and internal equity.  Please include a complete resume including all relevant and related work experience.
