The Financial Aid Assistant, who reports to the Director of Financial Aid, plays a vital role in supporting students and families through the financial aid process. This grant-funded position focuses on assisting students with FAFSA completion, navigating the student portal, fielding incoming communications, imaging documents, data entry, and supporting state financial aid programs. Employment length is contingent on the availability of funds, at least through July 2025.
Job Duties
Communication:
- Field incoming phone calls and emails from students, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Respond to general inquiries about financial aid processes and requirements.
- Escalate complex inquiries to appropriate staff members as needed.
Student Portal Navigation:
- Assist students in navigating the student portal for financial aid tasks.
- Provide guidance on accessing and using the portal effectively.
Document Imaging and Management:
- Scan and image financial aid documents to be stored in the system.
- Ensure accurate categorization and storage of documents.
Data Entry:
- Assist with data entry tasks related to financial aid applications and state financial aid programs.
- Maintain accuracy and confidentiality in handling student information.
State Financial Aid Programs:
- Support various aspects related to state financial aid programs.
- Assist in tracking and reporting requirements.
FAFSA Assistance:
- Guide students through completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Provide troubleshooting support for FAFSA-related issues.
General Support:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation of the Financial Aid Office.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Experience working in an area relevant to the position, such as education, office/clerical, or business. Customer service experience a plus.
Group: Campus Employment – non-benefit eligible
Classification: Part-time temporary
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Hours: Maximum of 28 hours per week. Open to flexible schedule M-F between 8 – 4:30 p.m.
Rate: $16.70/hr. (This is a grant-funded position. Employment length is contingent on the availability of funds, but it is expected to be through July 2025.)
